When I was a Youngster my Grandpa and Grandma were my parents for all practical purposes. My Fondest memory is of my grandpa taking me down to the farms pond and teaching me to fish. And it is one of my youngest memories as well.
So when my Grandson Austin came along it was only fitting that I should teach him to fish as well. Austin is a very special boy to say the least, His first few months of life were spent fighting for his life at Brenners Children's Hospital. If only I could have known that I was creating a Monster. .
Within a couple years his brother Wyatt came along and soon we were teaching "Bubby" to fish with us. Now the boys are true fisherman by very definition of the word. They go fishing every day. If its a school day they go in the evening after school. Now they are 11 and 8 yrs old and I often take them to a local boat ramp/park/fishing area on high rock lake Where they have both become celebrities !
Many people fish here and even though they may set all day without catching anything, I pull up in our "Fishing Jeep" and before the engine stops they are both out and headed to the water with a pole in each hand. The Locals that fish this spot almost hate to see them coming by now, Because these two little boys catch more fish than any adult that fishes this whole lake. Why? Because they love to fish and they work at catching the fish. Once again you get out what you put into something..
At 11 and 8 Yrs old they put to shame the old timers who have been fishing there whole lives including myself....
This is Austin teaching his little brother even before he was out of his stroller ! ....
